AIU Speech and Debate Team Wins 3rd Place at National Championship

The American International University (AIU) Speech and Debate Team has achieved a major victory by securing 3rd place at the Eighth National University and College Debating Championship. This exciting competition brought together 20 teams from 13 universities in Kuwait, showcasing the incredible talent and teamwork of AIU's debaters.
AIU’s Strong Performance at the Championship
The AIU team, made up of Motlaq Mamdouh Alenezi, Hind Mohammed Al Shammari, Fatma Salem Al Enezi, and Essa Mohammed Alazemi, gave an outstanding performance throughout the competition. In the final round for 3rd place, they competed against the Australian University team and won after a tough, closely-fought debate.
Top Debaters Recognized for Their Excellence
Along with the team’s overall success, individual team members earned impressive awards. Hind Mohammed Al Shammari was named the 7th Best Debater of the competition, while Motlaq Mamdouh Alenezi earned the title of 10th Best Debater. These individual honors highlight their exceptional debate skills and contributions to the team’s success.
A Proud Moment for AIU
AIU’s team supervisor, Nada Walweel, who also serves as the Associate Director of Student Engagement, expressed her pride in the team’s accomplishments. “We are extremely proud of our team’s success,” she said. “Their hard work and dedication have brought great pride to AIU, and we are confident they will represent Kuwait brilliantly in Oman.”

The team members also expressed their gratitude for the support they received. “We would like to thank AIU, the National Debate Team, and our friends and family for their constant encouragement,” said team member Essa Mohammed Alazemi.
