Bioinformatics

The specialization in bioinformatics within a BS biotechnology degree program offers a unique interdisciplinary education that combines the fields of biology, computer science, and information technology. This specialization focuses on the development and application of computational tools and techniques for analyzing and interpreting biological data.

Clinical Laboratory Sciences

The specialization in Clinical Laboratory Sciences within a BS Biotechnology degree program focuses on training students to perform complex biological, chemical, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests in clinical laboratories. Students learn to operate sophisticated laboratory equipment and are taught about the necessary safety and quality control measures required in a laboratory setting.

Tissue Engineering

The specialization in Tissue Engineering centers on tissue regeneration and restorative techniques using advanced scaffolds and biomaterials. Students will engage in techniques such as cell culture and differentiation, immune modulation, and 3D bioprinting to generate smart scaffolds and templates, exploring innovative approaches in tissue repair and regeneration.

School of Arts and Science Requirements

Students in the Bachelor of Science in the Biotechnology program must complete a minimum of 123 credits including satisfaction of all degree requirements of AIU. All coursework must be completed in accordance with the academic rules of AIU and those of the department.
